A MESSAGE FROM Run Niqabi Run: Chicago Edition
Run Niqabi Run: Chicago Edition — My Why
As-salamu alaykum and hello everyone,
My name is Briana, and I’m honored to run the 2026 Bank of America Chicago Marathon with Team Project H.O.O.D. — a cause that speaks directly to my heart.
I grew up understanding how much a strong, supportive community can change a life. As a Muslim, I believe deeply in khidmah (service), sadaqah (charity), and showing up for those around us. Project H.O.O.D.’s mission to empower youth, strengthen families, and build safer neighborhoods aligns perfectly with those values, alhamdulillah.
Over the last year, running has become a form of worship, reflection, and healing for me. I’ve been running consistently for about a year, completing monthly 5Ks and 10Ks since October 2024, and preparing for my first half marathon, insha’Allah. I recently ran 5Ks for ten days straight for Feed the Families and helped raise funds for families in need in my local area. Every mile reminds me of intention, gratitude, and the ayah: “And whoever does an atom’s weight of good will see it.” (Qur’an 99:7)
This marathon will be my first, bi’idhni Allah: a challenge I’m taking on not just for myself, but for the youth and families who deserve hope, opportunity, and support.
How I Plan to Raise Funds
I’ll be fundraising through my masjid, school community, local supporters, and social media. As a preschool teacher, I’m blessed with families who always encourage my running journey and charity work. With their support and yours. I’m confident I can reach the $2,750 goal, insha’Allah.
Why Your Support Matters
Every donation, no matter the size, helps Project H.O.O.D. provide mentorship, programs, and resources that break harmful cycles and build brighter futures. Your support is sadaqah jariyah; ongoing charity that continues to benefit others long after the moment you give.
Thank you for believing in this mission and helping me run for something bigger than myself. May every mile, every duʿaa, and every act of support be filled with khayr.
Bismillah… Run Niqabi Run: Chicago Edition begins.
