Say happy birthday to me by donating $40 to mark my 40th birthday!
January 11th, 2017 is the day that saved my life. It is the day when I finally made the decision to "let go" of the false control I thought I had and admit that I was powerless. It is the day that I walked into a room full of strangers, heard them share their unfiltered stories that resonated so deeply with mine that I knew I was "home" and with my tribe. It was the day I knew there was hope for me...somehow.
Since that day...I started running in May 2018 after a year or so lifting in the gym and was immediately in love with the process of becoming a runner. Running to me felt so much like the sober life and working the program...but in physical form. Today...I am over 7 years sober! And almost as important I am 39 years old...the same age my dad was when he passed away after having a stroke. As he was a drinker... I can only imagine what his life would have been like if he found sobriety soon enough. This 39th year of my life has been amazing in so many ways, but it has also been so emotional given the fact that at one point... I didn't think I would make it to this age to begin with.
Now as I approach my 40th birthday (August 22nd), an age my father didn't make it to, it only feels right to celebrate this milestone by giving back to my tribe...the community that saved my life.
Please help me raise money for a cause and a struggle that impacts more families than you can possibly imagine.
