A MESSAGE FROM Ndiaye brothers run the NY Marathon for the BMCF
Hello friends and supporters,
Most patients are not as lucky as I was. In fact, most patients do not find a matching family member as each sibling has only a 25% chance to match. In addition, Black patients face larger difficulties in finding a match as the large majority of the donor pool is white.
We invite you to sign up to be a BeTheMatch donor and potentially donate stem cells. It's less painful than a Covid test.
Gaye is an avid runner, and I (Abdou, the tall one) am likely inheriting his runner genes (no kidding!). For the 6-year celebration, we decided to run the New York Marathon on behalf of the BMCF team. In order to do that, we will need to meet our fundraising goal of $3000 each.
Please support our fundraising efforts for the Bone Marrow Cancer Foundation and 2022 New York City Marathon Fundraising Campaign. No donation is too small. Please click on the donate button!

This year marks the 6th anniversary of being cancer-free as a result of a stem cell transplant (formerly known as bone marrow transplant) that I received from my brother Gaye Ndiaye for leukemia treatment. We take this opportunity to raise awareness about a cause and an organization dear to us, the Bone Marrow and Cancer Foundation (BMCF).
In September 2016, I was diagnosed with leukemia. Thanks to modern science, a 100%-match to my brother, awesome doctors, and an incredible support system of family and friends I made it through with relatively minimal adverse effects.

The process of registering as a potential donor is simple and non-invasive. You sign up at https://join.bethematch.org. They send you a kit, you collect a saliva swab, and you're done. If you get matched, the donation is a blood transfusion, the technology has evolved, and there is no surgery on your bone marrow.
