A MESSAGE FROM Adrienne's Fundraising Page
I am a Dreamweaver, passionate advocate for women and children, mother of five, wife.
This has led me on am purpose of making an impact with EMC as I embark on my first half marathon in Mt Kilimanjaro.
Childbirth is not easy, but to think that 303,000 women die around the world as a result of complications of pregnancy and childbirth every year is heartbreaking and terrifying. Almost all global maternal deaths can be prevented by ensuring that all women have access to quality maternal care. That maternal health crisis hits close to home for me, as a mother of five, I fell deeply that it's an issue that deserves as much awareness as possible. This goal became a passion several years ago that brought me to Every Mother Counts. EMC is working to improve access to quality, respectful, and equitable maternity care. In 2019, I had the chance to join EMC on a trip to Guatemala and saw firsthand that in Guatemala and many other countries, pregnant women have to walk miles and miles to the nearest clinic to give birth. Their journey alone is challenging enough. If and when they make it to a clinic, they find that most of them lack proper amenities, resources, knowledge, and staff to give them proper care.
Every Mother Counts is working tirelessly to educate and help bring proper care to mothers everywhere. This year I will be joining EMC in Africa and running the Kilimanjaro Half Marathon to fundraise and bring awareness to this cause. I have become even more passionate during the pandemic as I am able to watch my children grow and develop safely, and I want that for mothers and children all over the world. My goal is to raise $35,000 in donations for EMC to support mothers around the globe. Please help me and EMC reach this goal: every woman deserves the right to live, give birth safely and remain healthy to enjoy and care for her child. I will be documenting and sharing my journey to Africa. I will carry your support with me, every step of the way.
