A MESSAGE FROM Alec's 2022 NYC Marathon Fundraising Page: Museum of Chinese in America
Hi! I'm running in the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon on November 6th, and I'm fundraising for the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA).
As a Chinese American from the suburbs of New York City, I'm grateful to have the opportunity to represent an organization that focuses on maintaining the history that helped shape me into the person I am today.
MOCA is a community based organization that focuses on celebrating the living history of the Chinese experience in America by preserving and presenting the 200-year history, heritage, culture, and diverse experiences of American communities of Chinese descent.
Especially in recent times, Asian cultural identity is important to hold on to, and with the rise in AAPI hate across the country, organizations like MOCA help share the knowledge, experiences, and stories of my family's history.
Please consider donating to help support MOCA's core mission in establishing a home for Chinese American culture and facilitate learning and diversity for future generations to come.
Thanks!

Snapshots of my Chinese American heritage:
- My grandfather Harold Leong and I. I wouldn't be here without his journey to the United States and his work as a pioneer in the garment industry of Chinatown in the 1960s
- Uncle Dennis and my Grandfather holding baby me. Dennis was Harold's best friend and my great Godfather
- My Mom and I sharing our Chinese heritage with my Kindergarten class
- My dog Colby celebrating Chinese New Year
- I was born in the Chinese Zodiac Year of the Ox, so here is a picture of me and an Ox
- My father, brother Evan, and I at a Chinese New Year celebration in Chinatown. My dad immigrated to New York when he was a young boy and carries on my grandfather Harold's legacy in the garment industry
- My grandparents Harold and Bakee Leong
- My grandparents (father's side) celebrating my brother Evan's birthday with us. They immigrated here with my dad in the 1980s
