A MESSAGE FROM Alix's Fundraising Page
Hi everyone! My name is Alix, and I'm a former college sprinter turned marathon runner currently living in New York City. After unfortunately suffering life-threatening rhabdomyolysis just before the 25th mile of last year's NYC Marathon and not being able to finish the race, I am VERY excited to be back again a year later and running in my second NYC Marathon!!
Just as I have a new appreciation for life after my previous marathon experience, so does my dear friend and colleague Thomas Donovan, who currently serves on the Brain Tumor Foundation's board. In 2006, Tommy developed a brain tumor and had to undergo emergency surgery to remove the tumor. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and he is now cancer free. Had he not discovered the tumor when he did, he may not be with us today.
I'm running for Team BTF this year to support my friend Tommy in his efforts to raise awareness about the need for early detection of brain tumors. I hope to play a part, no matter how big or small, in helping brain tumor patients combat this terrible disease.
Please consider contributing to this incredible cause and supporting my fundraising efforts for the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon. No donation is too small. If you'd like to donate, please click on the "Donate Today" green button! Thank you for your support!
