Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD) is a lethal, X-linked,
recessive neuromuscular disorder caused by mutations in the dystrophin gene.
These mutations result in missing or partial functioning dystrophin in muscles.
DMD patients suffer from progressive muscular damage and degeneration which
results in muscular weakness, motor delays, loss of movement, damaged lungs and
heart, and eventually death. Currently, there is no known cure for DMD but corticosteroids are used to extend the
life of patients and new gene therapy options are on the horizon. We need your
