A MESSAGE FROM Amanda Montoya's Fundraising Page
Friends, family, and supporters--
To everyone that has supported my past fundraising and running efforts--thank you and welcome back! To anyone that may not know my story, mental health advocacy and suicide prevention has held a special place in my heart for the last decade or so.
In 2010, I lost my witty, athletic, and loving father to suicide. In 2018, I began volunteering on a Boston-based suicide hotline answering calls and texts from around the country. In 2019 and 2020, I fundraised nearly $50,000 and ran the Boston Marathon (both in-person and virtually!) with Team Samaritans. And now in 2021, I plan to run my third marathon in three years to honor my father’s life and continue to destigmatize mental health issues in my community.
I am incredibly honored to begin this next chapter of my story with AFSP and I am thankful for any donation towards my $3,500 fundraising goal to run the (in-person!!) 2021 NYC Marathon.
All my thanks,
Amanda Montoya
