Amber's Fundraising Page
On May 16, 2020 I will join the entire Eagles organization and thousands of others from the community to ride, run or walk in the Eagles Autism Challenge. This event is dedicated to raising funds for innovative research and programs to address the complex issues presented by the condition of autism. By providing the necessary resources to thought leaders, we can advance scientific breakthroughs. All participant-raised funds, 100 %, will go directly towards autism research and/or programs at beneficiary institutions, as together we shift from autism awareness to action. I hope you will consider making a donation towards my fundraising goal to help transform the lives of those affected by autism today and tomorrow. Thank you!
This matters to me for several reasons... and they're all personal:
(a) In my previous career, I was a one-on-one aid for children and adolescents with disabilities and a majority of the clients I worked with had autism. These children became so close to my heart - some families that I continue to keep in touch with to this day. I witnessed how this diagnosis affected family dynamics, social interactions at school or community events, and the various manifestations that it causes for each individual, unique child. I worked in the trenches alongside other caregivers and suddenly saw and experienced incredibly difficult situations but also was privileged enough to be on the receiving end of the love that an autistic child is able to radiate.
(b) In my current role, I serve CHOP's Research Institute and I see the need for research funding for Autism.
(c) Rain or shine - GO BIRDS!
Please consider donating to this incredible cause! Our children need it!
