Dear Family and Friends,
I hope this finds you well and that you and your family are having a wonderful fall! As many of you know, I'm excited (and a tad nervous!) to share that I am running my first marathon next month when I run in New York City on Sunday, November 5th. It's an incredible honor and gives me great pride to join the Release Recovery Foundation team to help raise awareness and funds to support mental health and addiction recovery.
Mental health is a cause that is very close to my heart. Mental illness and addiction affect countless individuals and families, including some of our own loved ones. One in four people in the U.S. suffers from substance abuse disorder and/or mental illness, and 90% of those are unable to afford treatment. The lack of affordable resources supporting mental health and addiction prevents people from seeking the help they deserve and need far too often. For too long, recovery has been accessible to only a small percentage of those suffering. The Release Recovery Foundation is committed to making mental health treatment more accessible by offering scholarships for treatment at NAATP-vetted facilities across the country to bridge the gap between what people can afford and what they need to transform their lives.
When I run the NYC Marathon with the Release Recovery Foundation team in just under a month, our mission is to raise both awareness and much-needed funds for those in underserved communities who are ready and willing to seek treatment. Every dollar we raise gives individuals struggling with mental health challenges and addiction the chance to live the life they deserve.
Please find my fundraising link below, as well as The Release Recovery Foundation website so you can see the incredible work they're doing to help those in need of treatment and support.
