A MESSAGE FROM AMY'S FUNDRAISING PAGE FOR CVTC
Family and Friends:
I'm running the 2021 TCS NYC Marathon with the Crime Victims Treatment Center (CVTC). CVTC provides free counseling and legal services to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. They help the survivor from their first visit to the emergency department and throughout their entire healing journey.
My Story:
The first thing any marathoner will tell you is you need to find your "why" for running 26.2 miles. I've been a volunteer advocate with CVTC for three years, working with survivors in the emergency department. I'm running for the survivors I've worked with, for this incredible organization, and to help bring awareness to these forms of violence.
I'm also running this to celebrate New York. I was here throughout the toughest parts of the pandemic and I saw what really makes New York, New York. It was my neighbor offering to run errands for those who couldn't leave their apartment. It was CVTC finding a way to continue to show up for suriviors by shifting to tele-advocacy. It was everyone on their fire escape cheering for healthcare workers. We deserve to come back together as a city.
Lastly, I'm running to thank the sport. Like so many, I turned to running when lockdowns went into effect. It was the one activity I could partake in outside my apartment. On those runs, I would sort out my thoughts, meditate and come home with a bit more mental clarity. When cases declined, I got more involved with the running community here in NYC and let me tell you, it is unmatched. I've gotten to run all over the city with different people and have made some genuine friends along the way. Here's to building on that with training.
How You Can Help:
I've committed to raising $4,000 and running 26.2 miles for the Crime Victims Treatment Center, but I can't do this alone. I need your donation to help reach that $4,000 benchmark so survivors can continue to receive top notch care. With your donation, you'll be a part of the CVTC family, helping survivors and assisting in the work to end gender based violence.
Thanks for your support! Let's do this.
