A MESSAGE FROM Andrea Romano
I am a breast cancer survivor. In 2018 I made a difficult decision to have bilateral prophylactic mastectomies. That day changed my life forever. Following this “preventive” 10 hour surgery the pathology indicated that I had Breast Cancer. That year I had 5 surgeries. I am grateful for the knowledge, resources, and research available that led me to the decision to have my initial surgery. This year I am running the New York City Marathon with Team Think Pink. I need to raise $3,000 in order to qualify for the NYC Marathon. I chose Team Think Pink because it is a non-profit organization whose mission is to raise awareness about early detection of and genetic testing for breast cancer and to provide critical funding for research. Being a survivor I want to help others who are battling breast cancer through research and knowledge. I also want to help both men and women gain more preventative knowledge that could potentially save their lives. Research and knowledge helped me make a decision that saved my life.
