A MESSAGE FROM Andrea
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page!
I am so excited (and intimidated) to be a part of this 50 mile adventure. Project Athena supports women who've endured life-altering medical setbacks to unleash the Athlete and Adventurer within and complete the journey of a lifetime. The participants of these adventures have experienced devastating losses to their physical capabilities and fitness. Project Athena attempts to give them back what they lost by offering a huge physical goal to work towards.
This organization has granted my friend Angela, from Tasmania, an Athenaship to walk along the beautiful San Diego coastline in April 2016. She is recovering from a catastrophic back injury after being thrown from a horse. She has endured multiple surgeries and is finally on the other side of the surgical interventions. She is now slowly builiding her strength and endurance so she can travel to the states and make this once in a lifetime trek. I am training to walk this 50 mile adventure with Angela and a group of our friends to challenge myself as well as to give her moral support.
Doing this walk is so important to me for personal reasons as well. This is a huge personal goal for myself, to get fit enough to walk 50 miles. Earlier last year I was 30 pounds heavier and wasnt doing ANY exercise. Through the support of friends and coaches, I have slowly started to walk and get active. I can now easily do 2 to 3 mile walks, especially with Kirby, my dog, by my side. But I wonder if I can do more, can I actually get fit enough to do 25 miles in a day? And then do it again the next day?
Please consider donating to help support Angela, myself and our team to do this walk, as well as help Project Athena to keep doing what they are doing.
