A MESSAGE FROM Andrew
I’m running the NYC Marathon this year for my dad. My dad ran the NYC Marathon four times. He said it was the one day a kid from Queens like him could feel like they were playing in the Super Bowl. I wasn’t around yet to cheer him on but he’d take my brother and I to watch every year, and I’d always see his eyes light up watching the runners. Over the last few years, he’d tell me on a daily basis that I should run the marathon - that it was an event I needed to experience as an athlete, a New Yorker, and a Godnick. I put it off every year, reluctantly saying I’ll do it eventually. When we lost my dad in November of 2021, I knew my reluctant answer of “I’ll do it eventually” wasn’t going to cut it anymore - eventually had arrived, so I ran the 2022 & 2023 NYC Marathons for my dad. I'm back again to honor my dad's life during the 2024 NYC Marathon. Dad, this year, I’m running my third marathon, in your honor, with you in my heart. It isn’t the 5th marathon you expected, but I know you’ll be there every step of the way. November 3rd can’t come soon enough. I love you Dad
