A MESSAGE FROM Angie Byrd for Nyaka
This is my 2nd NYC marathon run in support of Nyaka!
I ran the marathon in 2019 and it was one of the most rewarding experiences of my life in so many ways.
This year, it is a family affair. My husband Scott and daughter Ellie AND I will be crossing the finish line together (well, I'll be way behind them!!) on November 5, 2023.
Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project provides free education to children who have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. Nyaka currently educates over 800 students from nursery through university. In addition to two primary schools and a secondary school, Nyaka operates two public libraries, a farm, a medical clinic, gravity-fed clean water systems, and a support program for 10,000 grandmothers left to care for an estimated 60,000 HIV/AIDS orphans in the districts of Rukungiri and Kanungu in Southwest Uganda.
The primary vision of this organization is the education of children who have no other means in the world of breaking the cycle of poverty and sickness. This school, this place, is their hope, and their home. An opportunity to make an impact in their communities, and the world.
Education, quite literally, means the world to these children.
Scott and I were introduced to this wonderful organization a few years ago by a friend and board member of Nyaka.
After meeting and spending time with the founder of Nyaka, Jackson, we knew we wanted to be involved.
I cannot speak highly enough of them and the vision they are driving for the community of Nyaka. It’s one of the most inspiring endeavors I’ve ever seen. Born from the heart and built with extraordinary hard work, devotion and love.
This vision is moving me to run 26.2 miles on November 5, 2023. It’s an honor to be a part of this group.
I would sincerely appreciate your support in my fundraising efforts.
I’m asking for you to consider making a gift to Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project. Every dollar we raise goes directly to the organization, helping children affected by HIV/AIDS get fundamental life rights such as nutrition, education and a safe roof over their heads, as well as giving a helping hand to grandmothers who are supporting generations beneath them.
Thank you for your love and support!
It will actually change lives.
