A MESSAGE FROM Ashley’s Fundraising Page

When I signed up for this race, it was in honor of my dad. That has since changed to in memory of, as he passed away March 1st after a courageous battle with brain cancer. He put up one hell of a fight and I’m trying to find peace in knowing we did everything we possibly could until the very end.

In September, he was diagnosed with 4 Glioblastoma tumors. He ended up with 6+. Treatment did nothing for him. My grandma also passed away from the same type of brain tumor. Going from being perfectly healthy to a terminal diagnosis was a huge shock to my dad and my family. I pray that someday they will find a cure for Glioblastoma, and other families won’t have to go through this. I don’t wish this type of disease on anyone.

I’ll be running in the Big Sur marathon for my dad, for my grandma, and for everyone else battling brain cancer. I’ll be running for their families as well, who are also going through an unimaginable time.
