In August of 2023, my Uncle Gabe passed away unexpectedly from a sudden cardiac arrest. He was a true optimist and inspired all of us to live everyday to the fullest. My cousin Allison and I have joined Team Harboring Hearts and will be lacing up to run the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon in my uncle’s memory and his father's, my grandfather’s, who also passed away prematurely due to heart problems.
Harboring Hearts is a nonprofit organization providing financial and emotional support to cardiac surgery and transplant patients and their families during their critical time of treatment. They seek to ease the financial and emotional burdens faced by heart surgery patients, their families, and caregivers. In partnership with 9 metro-NYC hospitals, their programs support heart surgery patients and their families in four unique ways: Emergency Fund, Caregiver Food Delivery Program, Hope 4 Heart Days, and Community Events. When you support Harboring Hearts, you provide a safety net for low-income cardiac surgery as well as cardiac, liver, and pediatric kidney transplant patients and their families during and after hospitalization.
Running this marathon is not just about the miles; it's about celebrating Gabe’s spirit and supporting the vital work of Harboring Hearts. Thank you for your support!
