In August, I’ll be embarking on a challenge of a lifetime! We will be hiking the Grand Canyon from rim to rim! We will start on the South Rim and hike 24 miles to the North Rim. This is an awesome 6,000 foot elevation gain and the training has been grueling to say the least, consisting of 3 to 4-hour sessions climbing stairs, 4 to 8-hour hikes and other general training just to prepare.
Why am I doing this you may ask? I’m doing this for the challenge and to raise money for the Project Athena Foundation. This foundation is a 501c3 non-profit foundation dedicated to helping women survivors of medical or other traumatic setbacks achieve their adventurous dreams, and most importantly, give them the encouragement and inspiration needed to help these strong, amazing women make that life-affirming transition from survivor to athlete.
