Running is more than a hobby or an activity. It's friendships and camaraderie. It's a ticket to better physical and mental health. It builds community and encourages volunteerism.
I currently have the honor of serving on the Board of Directors for Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA), helping ensure we are actively fulfilling our mission and building a strong future. We are embarking on a new campaign (the first of its kind in CARA's history) raising $100,000 by the end of 2021, to grow our 'Go Run program. 'Go Run for Everyone places CARA's mission front and center to make sure everyone in the Chicagoland area has access to the benefits of running.
By offering free running events and races in neighborhood parks and forest preserves throughout Chicagoland, youth, families and others that might not feel safe or have the support to go run, can experience the benefits of running. Fulfilling our campaign goal will allow CARA to fund an expanded 'Go Run program for the next 2 years with a specific focus on Chicago's South and West sides. It will provide stability and a solid foundation for a program that brings safe opportunities for health and wellbeing to our entire community. Please consider being a part of this historic undertaking by making a gift to our 'Go Run for Everyone Campaign. Your investment will support the expansion of CARA's main initiatives to building community through running, where it's needed most.
