A MESSAGE FROM Brock’s page
Family, friends, and colleagues,
I was blessed and honored to be selected to run the Chicago Marathon this October. A few of you have asked how you can support this, so I want to share why this matters to me.
You may not know this, but the past few years have stretched our family in ways I never expected. We walked through the loss of our oldest daughter. We stepped into raising our granddaughter. Grief changes you. Responsibility changes you. Fatherhood in your 40s changes you.
A few years ago I was pushing 300 pounds. Tired. Inflamed. Not leading myself well.
After the passing of our daughter, I made a decision. I was going to change.
Since then I have lost over 120 pounds. I rebuilt my health. I rebuilt my faith. Running became more than exercise. It became therapy. Discipline. Prayer time. A place to process pain. A way to lead my family by example.
Last year I completed my first half marathon. This October I will run my first full marathon at the Chicago Marathon, one of the seven World Marathon Majors. For me this is bigger than a race. I am honoring my daughter. I am showing my kids what resilience looks like. I am proving that adversity does not get the final word.
I am running in partnership with a charity and have committed to raising funds as part of my entry. That is where I need your help.
If you would consider giving, sponsoring a mile, or sharing the link, I would be grateful. Any amount matters. Your support goes directly to the cause and helps me reach my fundraising goal.
No pressure at all. Just an opportunity to be part of something meaningful to our family.
Thank you for caring. It means more than you know.
