A MESSAGE FROM Cam Hoyt's Chicago Marathon
If you were to tell me a few years ago that I would not only run the Boston Marathon in 2023, but that I’d be gearing up for the Chicago Marathon in 2026, I would have laughed. As many of you know, I was never the most athletic person, and the idea of running mile after mile felt impossible. But as I watched my grandfather and my Uncle Rick dedicate themselves to making a difference, something shifted. Running, for them, was never just running, it was purpose. It was passion. It was their life.
Training for and completing Boston with Team Hoyt in 2023 was one of the hardest and most meaningful things I’ve ever done. Thanks to the support of so many, together we raised $17,050, and crossing that iconic finish line is a feeling I’ll never forget. Their words “yes you can” carried me then, and they continue to guide me now.
That’s why I’m so excited to take on the 2026 Chicago Marathon. I’ve grown to love running in a way I never expected, and being able to carry my grandfather’s and Uncle Rick’s spirit forward into another major marathon is an honor. I can’t wait to represent Team Hoyt again, to challenge myself once more, and to continue supporting a mission that means so much to my family.
The Hoyt Foundation, founded in 1989, aspires to build the character, self-confidence, and self-esteem of America’s disabled young people through inclusion in all areas of life, family, school, sports, community, and the workplace. The Foundation also supports and advises those who share this mission.
