A MESSAGE FROM Caren Steeves NYC Marathon Fundraising
I am so excited to be chosen by Good Sports to represent them and continue my 2023 bid of raising funds for their organization while earning my 2nd major marathon star at the 2023 New York City Marathon.
Good Sports is a national nonprofit that gives kids in low-income communities greater access to sports and physical activity. Good Sports works with sports companies like Nike and Under Armour to donate brand-new equipment, apparel, and footwear to children and youth organizations across the country.
For me, sports played an integral role in my childhood, setting the foundation for teamwork, developing leadership skills, and creating lifelong friendships. Sports improved my self-esteem, taught me discipline, and provided me with the opportunity to grow both personally and in sports. And, I would not be as successful as I am today without sports throughout my entire life.
Coming from a family with 3 kids, I know the monetary constraint that comes with buying equipment, apparel, and footwear to participate. This is why the Good Sports organization means so much to me and this is my opportunity to give back to youth and teams' in need and to share with ALL OF YOU how important it is for youth participation in sports.
Seeing a smile on a youth's face while playing sports means EVERYTHING to me. And, with every dollar raised it will help Good Sports donate more equipment and create equitable access to youth sports!
