A MESSAGE FROM Carolyn's Marathon Fundrasing Page
Hi there! I am so excited to be running my first marathon for Girl Scouts of Greater New York! Girl Scouts of Greater New York (GSGNY) means so much to me and to so many youths in NYC. I am honored to help raise money for such an important organization and run this iconic race.
As a former Girl Scout and employee of GSGNY, I saw firsthand the positive impact that Girl Scouting can have in the lives of younger New Yorkers. In my first position with GSGNY, I was an Urban Day Camp Site Director. Because of generous donations and funding, we were able to travel all over the city. From learning how to make a fire at Prospect Park to visiting the top of One World Trade, the Girl Scouts at my site, many of which were members of Troop 6000, were able to have these experiences with Girl Scouts they otherwise wouldn't have because of donations like these.
I continued working for Girl Scouts for 3.5 years, from working up at Camp Kaufmann to transitioning to the Marketing team. At GSGNY I was fortunate to work with wonderful coworkers who were all passionate about the mission and vision of Girl Scouting. While I no longer work for Girl Scouts, I still recognize the importance of Girl Scouting and that a family's financial situation should never limit them from these experiences.
I am excited to continue to support Girl Scouts by running the NYC marathon, and couldn't do it without your support! Below are some photos of my time as a Girl Scout, working with Girl Scouts, and past races! I couldn't have gotten here without the support of the people in those photos.
