A MESSAGE FROM Cassie's Race for Strong Girls
Hello friends, family, and supporters!
In April, I will be running the Boston Marathon as a charity runner for Strong Girls United (https://sgunitedfoundation.org). Strong Girls is an organization with a mission to empower girls to be strong, confident, and resilient through sport and physical activity combined with mental health and wellbeing activities.
Since my formal soccer career wrapped up last year, it has become even clearer to me how sports have positively impacted my life and afforded me invaluable life skills. I have learned to persevere through different types of stress, ranging from a global pandemic, a difficult biology test to multiple knee surgeries. Being a female athlete has given me the strength and confidence to believe in myself and strive for loftier goals. The role models I found through sports have shaped me into the person I am today. I found inspiration and motivation from my female coaches, teammates, and mentors. Because of this, I was moved to set a similar example for young girls through Strong Girls United. For over a year now, I have participated in the organization’s Female Athlete Mentorship program and been paired with a mentee for the school year. As a mentor, I form a relationship with my mentee by meeting virtually to practice mindfulness, meditation, disengaging stress techniques, goal setting, confidence building, and, of course, physical activity. My first mentee was in third grade and my current mentee is in sixth grade. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to make a positive impact in their lives.
I would be grateful if you would support my race, for Strong Girls. Your donations will contribute to helping every girl realize their inner “I CAN.”
Thank you for your love and support!
