A MESSAGE FROM Christine
I said that I wasn’t going to run the NYCM this year. I said that I needed a break. Both those things are still true…. BUT…..BUT…. BUT…..
So this is my not running the NYCM but planning to “run” a virtual NYCM marathon this fall (probably in the streets of our town). Running these last few years for Sandy Hook has been more about them than the actual marathon. It still is because their message of inclusion (Start with Hello), teaching young people how to look for warning signs and how talk to a trusted adult about it (Know the Signs), the Say Something Anonymous Reporting System building on the Know Signs program and SAVE (Students Against Violence Everywhere) Promise Clubs which promote kindness, inclusiveness, and the value of looking out for one another..
I can’t sit this one out. It is too important. So here I am planning to do what I can to help make the world a better place. We all do our part, this is mine. So I will walk, run, walk…..but I will once again be completing 26 miles for not just the angels of Sandy Hook, but to follow through on the “NEVER AGAIN” promise we make after each shooting.
We can do better. We must do better. We will do better.
