A MESSAGE FROM Join Christine in Supporting A Foster Child
Children in the Cook County foster care system are some of the most vulnerable individuals in Chicago. Frequently, they have experienced abuse and neglect, unstable home life, and unexpected relocations. While the goal of foster care is to reunite children in safe homes, Illinois is last in the country for achieving timely permanent placements. This means that many children age out of the system without having ever known a stable home. Highly trained CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) volunteers work to change that, building personalized court recommendations based on their research and firsthand relationships with their appointed children.
For CASA, no child is simply a case number.
My goal of $2500 enables one child the support of the CASA program for a full year. That year can be life changing. Please join with me as I run to raise funds and spread awareness for this incredibly important work: protecting life’s most precious and vulnerable population.
