A MESSAGE FROM Christopher Bonelli's Fundraising Page for the NYC Marathon
I'm excited to announce that I will be running in the 52nd Anniversary of the TCS New York City Marathon this November - the world’s largest and most popular marathon.
As some of you may know, I had an older brother named James Bonelli who was born with a condition called Malrotation Mid Gut Volvulus who sadly passed away just shy of his 3rd birthday. In his short life, James went through two small intestine transplants (both of which were rejected), multiple hospital visits, and countless surgeries.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation heard of my brother's illness and chose him to be a Wish Kid. Jimmy was able to have a wish granted, and he chose to go to Disney World in Florida. The trip was all expenses paid and gave him the opportunity to live out his dream a few months before his tragic passing. Jimmy's world was made bright again because his favorite Disney characters always brought a smile and a laugh to his face. Make-A-Wish gave him an opportunity to meet his favorite characters, Mickey, Goofy, and his all-time favorite Winnie the Pooh. Having Jimmy's wish granted not only made Jimmy's dreams come true, but also my family's. By granting Jimmy's wish my family was able to find solace in a dark time.
When choosing a charity to represent for my first marathon, Make-A-Wish was an easy choice. I couldn't be prouder to run the marathon representing them and my brothers legacy. Any donation is very much appreciated by myself and thousands of children across the country. Each donation helps make a child who is battling a life threatening illness' wishes come true. I am so grateful my family was able to see Jimmy's face light up when he met Winnie the Pooh. I hope the donations raised by running the marathon will do the same for another child and family.
Thank you!
- Christopher James Bonelli
