While an educator, I got to work closely with CSforAll, a national leader in advocating for equitable access to computer science (CS) education. Now I am thrilled to support their extraordinary work while I go after a big goal of my own: running the 2023 TCS New York City Marathon.
I'm all in on CS education. In my 11 years as a teacher, I had the privilege of teaching hundreds of students in Oakland, CA AP Computer Science before establishing a district-wide position to bring CS courses to thousands of students. CS education creates agency, unlocks creativity, and strengthens logic — among other important foundational skills. And, critically, it's engaging and fun!
Channeling the effort I asked of the young people I taught, I am training hard to run sub 3:16 to break my PR in the marathon. This would be an extra special achievement for me given a long recovery in 2022 from Covid. I am ready to take on this challenge.
