I am running in the New York City Marathon this year raising money for The Samaritans, an organization that works to prevent suicide through various educational initiatives and to provide support for those who have been affected by suicide.
With suicide causing more fatalities than car accidents in the US, as
many deaths as homicide and AIDS combined, and depression and suicide
increasing in these trying times and troubled economy, the care and
services provided by Samaritans are needed more than ever.
Having been directly affected by suicide myself and hearing of others who have been impacted as well, has given me the desire to support this organization through my fundraising for the NYC Marathon.
