A MESSAGE FROM Ed
Next year is here. "Eddie's Voice" is here. For those of you that helped us last year thank you and you may remember I mentioned that this year (2020) we were finally going to give Eddie a voice in helping families around the Delaware Valley believe they really will be OK.. That their child will have the love and support needed to help beat this puzzle called Autism.
Eddie was 21 months when we found out he was officially somewhere on this vast autistic spectrum. My immediate response after the folks from Easter Seal's shared this information with me was, "Well kid, that's the hand God dealt us, we'll deal with it and we'll be OK.
When you're raising a child (now a 26-year old young man) who lives in the world of autism, as much as you want to be an advocate, your biggest challenge as a parent is finding the time. It's a horrible excuse but you're just trying to get through THAT DAY.
This is where the Eagle Autism Challenge comes in. The Eagles and Jeffrey Laurie have put a program together so when a young couple today receives this news, (and hundreds of couples will receive this news Today) they will have a support system in place and their child will have a real chance to beat this disorder. A program like this can help a huge population of men and woman, boys and girls and their families.
Like me, many parents with an autistic child spend countless sleepless nights staring at the ceiling wondering what will happen to my child when I'm no longer on this earth. Let's pray and help organizations like this raise the funds they need to research and find out the WHY... Let's help insure every young child and their families can have real hope that they will beat this puzzling disorder.
I decided to share my personal story because I'd like you to be part of this process. This is our second year participating in the Eagles Autism Challenge and from where I sit it's a tremendous opportunity for all of us to help a great cause and an organization that's doing everything right. 100% of our donations goes to the Eagles Autism Challenge. 100%
This is year one for Team Eddie's Voice. We're asking you to join our team. Please consider being there at the Linc on May 16th for the walk/run or bike. It's a fantastic day that ends in the stadium of our beloved Birds. (Plenty of food and drink) Please join me, my wife Christine, Eddie and his brother Shane rock this very important event on May 16th. We plan on making this a yearly activity so you will be hearing from us on an annual basis.
