A MESSAGE FROM Elizabeth Harrington's Fundraising Page!
Please support my fundraising efforts for the 2023 Bank of America Chicago Marathon! No donation is too small. I'm running as a part of Team ChiParks to support my local green spaces.
Training Updates
The pictures below are some of the highlights of marathon training so far!
-May 18 (Preseason): Team ChiParks May Fun Run! Met my charity team and went on a great run through Lincoln Park. Glad to see so many other runners who want to support our parks!
- June 4 (Preseason): I ran the Run for the Zoo 10k which supports the Lincoln Park Zoo (the entire run was within Lincoln Park! Go Chicago parks!). Some of the pictures look better than others, but I had so much fun! Great way to kick off the season.
- June 7 (Week 1): I went to my first track workout with the Chicago Area Runners Association (CARA)! I also forgot to take any pictures other than my BeReal.
- June 29 (Week 4): First Little Compton run of the season. Ran 4 miles to Sakonnet Yacht Club and jumped off the dock. Another BeReal, but this time very happy!!
-July 8 (Week 5): Little Compton Road Race! Hot and humid conditions, but great running mates and spectators kept my spirits up.
-July 22 (Week 7): Ran my 12 mile long run in beautiful Shelter Island, NY! Conquered some miles and some hills while on vacation with friends from college. Saw several osprey with their chicks on this scenic run. Thank you to Dr. Plump for helping me plan a route around the island!
-July 29 (Week 8): Ran my longest run yet!! 13.1 miles took me and the CARA Lincoln Park crew down to the Museum Campus for a foggy view of the Chicago skyline.
-August 5 (Week 9): Ran my Saturday long run going north instead of south this week! Great morning 10 miler with CARA, running to the start of the Lakefront trail in Edgewater.
About The Chicago Parks Foundation
The Chicago Parks Foundation’s mission is to build a stronger community dedicated to
supporting and conserving Chicago’s parks.
The Chicago Parks Foundation (CPF) is an independent, nonprofit organization dedicated to
working with the Chicago Park District in a private-public partnership. We are collaborative in
spirit, rooted in positive, productive park energy.
The Chicago Park District is one of the largest municipal park managers in the nation, with 600+
parks, 220 field houses, 24 beaches, 11 museums, 10 harbors, 9 golf courses, and an
incredible team of staff. Tax dollars alone cannot provide all of the funds needed to maintain
and improve these parks and park programs. That’s where we come in. As the charitable
partner of the Park District, we help bridge the gap between communities and their parks.
Thousands of runners choose to make their Bank of America Chicago Marathon experience
more meaningful by running on behalf of a charity. Team ChiParks members share a passion
for our amazing Chicago parks. When you fundraise for the Chicago Parks Foundation, you are
supporting a team that’s committed to giving back to parks in all Chicago communities. After all,
without Chicago’s parks and 18 miles of Lakefront Trail, where would you run?
