Live4Evan was founded in memory of Evan Girardi, a Hopkinton native who passed away during his senior year of college due to a heart arrhythmia. Evan was born with a congenital heart defect (CHD) known as Corrected L-Transposition of the Great Arteries. Despite his diagnosis, Evan lived life to the fullest - defined by deep relationships, resilience, and joy.
In honoring Evan’s life and legacy, his friends and family created Live4Evan to reflect the power of community and the importance of having loved ones close during life’s most challenging moments.
Today, Live4Evan operates seven apartments next to Boston Children’s Hospital, providing temporary housing for families who travel to Boston so their children can receive specialized cardiac care. By easing the financial and emotional burden of housing, Live4Evan allows families to stay close to their child during critical times.
As a fellow Hopkinton native, running the Boston Marathon has always been a dream of mine. I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to run in memory of Evan and to support families who must travel to Boston for congenital cardiac care.
