After doing my senior research exhibition at Thacher on the American foster care system, I knew that this was something I wanted to be involved with for the rest of my life. My mom was a CASA in San Francisco, and my sister was adopted, so this topic is very near and dear to my heart. It is so important that children in foster care have a consistent support system and ally, and CASA works hard to create that stability. Still, only 11% of children in Cook County’s foster care system currently have access to a CASA Advocate.
