On Sunday, November 6th, I will be participating in the 2022 NYC Marathon and will run 26.2 miles to raise money for the Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project. It is a privilege to be part of such a wonderful organization and I am excited about this opportunity. To get right the point, the key links for your records are below, however I encourage you read this note in its entirety.
Donate to my run in support of Nyaka here (help me raise $5,000 for such a good cause!)

Nyaka AIDS Orphans Project provides free education to
children who have lost one or both parents to HIV/AIDS. They provide education
and operate two primary schools, one secondary school, two public libraries, a
farm, a medical clinic, gravity-fed clean water systems, and a remarkable
program that supports 20,000 grandmothers and over 80,000 orphaned and
vulnerable children. While I run for Nyaka in the 2022 New York City Marathon,
a group of dedicated people in Nyaka village will be running too. We will run
in solidarity so Nyaka can continue protecting and nurturing their children, so
they learn, grow, and thrive.
I am inspired to run for Nyaka for many reasons. In part,
because I have had the privilege of learning about this wonderful cause from
one of the programs leaders, my grandmother, Sherrye Henry (who personally
knows the founder of Nyaka and introduced me to their incredible work). I have
learned how access to quality education changes a child's life. However, Nyaka
understands that education alone is not enough to support a child's
development, so they've recruited thousands of grandmothers to care for the
orphans in the community.
If you have the time, I encourage you to learn more about Nyaka by watching this 20th anniversary video and exploring their website: (1011) Nyaka -- 20th Anniversary Celebration - YouTube, And to support my fundraiser for Nyaka: Fundraising Page for Emil W Henry for 2022 TCS New York City Marathon Fundraising (hakuapp.com)
Every dollar we raise goes directly to the organization and
their tangible, on-the-ground efforts to address the impact of the HIV/AIDS
epidemic on children.
Thank you!
