I just did a thing today! I signed up for my first ever 5K Run/Walk for the Eagles Autism Challenge!! As a lot of you know and some of you may not I have a son with Autism. When he was first diagnosed with Asperger's the public was not as well informed as we are today. Anja and I had to watch him struggle everyday in his battle to be normal, and be accepted. We flew blind and offered as much help as possible. Today I can still see where he struggles and as a parent there is nothing more painful to watch and not be able to help!
However I have also had the wonderful opportunity to watch him grow into a smart, funny, talented, amazing young man! He has had a ton of help and support along the way with some amazing teachers (mentors). He try's to channel his disability into a strength. But he will forever have to fight his fight.
I am really out of shape!! My goal for myself is to just complete this run/walk not for me, but for him and the millions of other children who suffer from some form of Autism. I have teamed up with the best support team out there too. Team Five Below!!
I need to raise $175.00 to participate and my company will match the remanding $175.00. I am asking for your help. If you can afford to donate anything I will be forever grateful!
