What makes this time so much more meaningful is that I’m running in memory of my dog, Scooter, as part of a team that is fundraising for The Schwarzman Animal Medical Center, the world’s largest non-profit animal hospital, where over 130 veterinarians provide the highest quality medical care to animals across more than 20 specialties and services.
This hospital is very special to me because it’s the place where Scooter received extraordinary medical care for a rare dental disease he had from the time he was a puppy. I was lucky to find a hospital close by that had a team of specialized dental veterinarians who could successfully treat his condition throughout his entire life—16 years!
The funds I raise will be used to support this outstanding hospital in 2 important areas:
1) AMC to The Rescue, a charitable fund that offers free critical specialty treatments to animals in the care of non-profit rescue groups, when the animal’s health presents an obstacle to their adoption. Many of those treated are able to find their “forever home”.
2) Patients Assistance Fund, a charitable fund that provides free or subsidized care for animals requiring urgent or emergency treatment in cases where owners are facing financial difficulties.
