In January 2027, I will take on one of the toughest endurance events at Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend, the Dopey Challenge. Over four days, I will run four races: a 5K, a 10K, a Half Marathon, and a Marathon, totaling 48.6 miles.
I completed the Dopey Challenge once before, and somewhere in the middle of the experience, I realized something surprising. I wanted to do it again.
This time, I wanted it to mean something more than just a personal challenge.
That is why I joined Team Red, White & Blue.
Team RWB is a nonprofit that supports veterans by helping them stay connected through fitness, community, and purpose after their military service. Many veterans face isolation after leaving the military. Team RWB helps build strong communities where veterans can continue to lead active and meaningful lives.
I am not a veteran myself. I am a civilian and the son of an Air Force colonel. Service has always been close to my life and my family. My father-in-law served in the Marine Corps, my nephew currently serves in the Coast Guard, and other members of my family have served in the Navy, Army, and Marine Corps. I have also spent over two decades working on projects that support the U.S. Navy, which has given me an even deeper respect for the men and women who wear the uniform and the sacrifices they make for our country.
This race is my small way of saying thank you.
Over the course of one weekend, I will run 48.6 miles. Every mile will represent my gratitude for those who have sacrificed far more for our country.
If you are willing, I would be honored if you would support this effort by making a donation to Team RWB. Your support helps veterans stay connected, active, and supported through a community that understands them.
Thank you for supporting our veterans and for being part of this journey.
