One of my personal goals for 2024 is to better myself, and better how I help my community. This year I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to join Girls Inc. in running the NYC Half Marathon. My first EVER half marathon. With that, I am raising funds to support and help enrich the Girls Inc. mission. Girls Inc. of New York City (GINYC) inspires all girls to be strong, smart, and bold, delivering life-transforming programs to girls, young women, and gender-expansive youth throughout New York City. Through education and advocacy, we prepare students to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers to advance to a more equitable world. Each year, GINYC serves approximately 10,000 young people at 150+ school and community-based partner sites, with a focus on engaging girls from communities of color and underserved neighborhoods. Our research-based curricula support the development of the “whole girl,” with life-transforming programs spanning the topics of mental and physical health, STEM, college readiness and retention, leadership, financial literacy, and more.
