A MESSAGE FROM Henry's NYC Marathon for Kids with Epilepsy
It will be about 730 days between the running of the last NYC marathon and the time on Nov 7 when runners line up again on the ramp onto the Verrazano Bridge in Staten Island. We all have lived through traumatic days in between. The renewed hope of New Yorkers gathering in the streets for the running of the 50th NYC Marathon will inspire us to get back to normal and communal living. All of this time of separation and losing loved ones -- both young and old -- has caused us to reflect about what is most important in life. For me, that reflection brought me to understand that our children must be loved and protected even more. This means we must be open to help those who need our support to care for kids who suffer from illness or other disabilities. Paula and I lost our daughter, Emma, at four months to infantile epilepsy. No parent should ever have to deal with such loss. I run now to help other parents who have kids with epilepsy, to help them get the services they need to help their kids survive and thrive. Donate today to the organization that helped my wife and me survive our tragedy and who help kids everyday get stronger to overcome their seizures. The EFMNY is a grassroots community organization in our own NYC neighborhoods, which helps kids in all five boroughs -- along that same route I will run on Nov 7. Wear purple on Nov 7 and donate here and help save a child's life. Emma will run with me on Nov 7, and so will all of you who support the EFMNY. You will be my side.
