I am so excited to be part of the 2025 End Child Poverty California Marathon Team! Did you know that close to 20% of children in California are experiencing poverty and its effects including food and housing insecurity? I find this unacceptable in the 5th largest economy in the world. The outcomes associated with poverty are impacting not just the lives of these children, their families, and communities, but all of us. We need to answer a collective call to action to change this reality for generations of Californians. I am answering the call by training and running the LA Charity 1/2 Marathon to help this extraordinary organization, and their sponsors, the Sisters at the Daughters of Charity, with their dedicated work to finally put an end to children living in poverty in California.
