A MESSAGE FROM Matthew's Fundraising Page
My name is Matt and I am a pediatric otolaryngologist from Indianapolis, Indiana. In the course of my career I have frequent encounters with patients and families that have been affected by CMV. It is a common cause of hearing loss and I manage the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Multidisciplinary Clinic at the Riley Hospital for Children.
I chose to work with the national CMV foundation to help support their advocacy and outreach for families across the country. My hope is that in the future we can work to add CMV to the newborn screening so we can capture the kids with neonatal CMV and improve their access to treatment, interventions, and support as it takes more than just the immediate family to care for these kids.
Thank you for your donation to the National CMV Foundation, Inc. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting awareness, providing access to resources, and sharing prevention information to eliminate congenital cytomegalovirus (CMV).CMV is the most common congenital viral infection in the United States, affecting 30,000+ newborns per year, yet, only 9% of people know about it. If given proper education from the medical community before or during pregnancy, women can be empowered to make informed decisions about their heath and their baby’s future. Your gift is extremely important to us and will offer immediate resources that are directed to awareness campaigns and pediatric research opportunities. These resources will impact the public health services urgently needed in our communities.
