A MESSAGE FROM McKenna's Fundraising Page for +Pool
Thank you for supporting me as I take on 26.2 miles in NYC this November. More importantly, thank you for supporting + POOL's mission of free and safe swimming in the river, environmental advocacy, and educational programs on water quality. Since I was a child, I have loved learning about the environment and sustainable living. As someone who is passionate about movements which bring communities together and support healthier living, for us and for our environment, I am honored to be sponsored by Friends of +Pool for this race.
For friends and family not living in NYC: why should you care about Friends of +POOL? With a successful launch, +POOL's model will be brought to all major cities around the U.S., and maybe even the world. As someone who loves fishing on the river and the ocean, water quality is VITAL. This is just one small way I can help raise educational awareness around this pressing issue. How do you feel about water quality and it's impact on your life?

Friends of + POOL is
a nonprofit organization working to provide equitable access to the East River
for swimming, educate the public on issues affecting water quality, and promote
water stewardship of the waters surrounding NYC! The organization is the driver of + POOL,
the world's first water-filtering, floating swimming pool. They offer a variety
of public and educational programming for low-income families as we work to
provide clean and safe access to the river through + POOL.
