As my friends and family know, I have struggled with my weight and feeling stuck in a rut for many years. I need something really big to reach for, to take me out of my comfort zone and to find out how really capable I am. This event is daunting but I'm going for it!
My goal is to walk 50 miles along the coast of San Diego, CA with my friend, Angela Darch, who was thrown from a horse a few years ago. She has had 3 surgeries to repair her 1st vertebra. She has been chosen as an Athena for this walk. Her spirit is inspiring as she prepares for this journey. To tell you the truth, I would not have chosen this huge goal if it were not for her encouragement to partner with me to get me moving again. Help me be there with her!
The Project Athena Foundation is a 501c3 non-profit founded in 2007 and based in San Diego. Named for the Greek Goddess of wisdom and war, Project Athena assists women who've endured medical or traumatic setbacks in reaching their athletic and adventurous goals as a part of their recovery. Donations to the Project Athena Foundation will be used to help survivors through "Athenaships”, which are grants that allow survivors to participate in a selected outdoor adventure to "help women get their groove back". They assist with entry fees, airfare, coaching, inspiration, specialized equipment, etc., in an attempt to help survivors live their adventurous dreams!
Donating through this website is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to support my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
