A MESSAGE FROM Amanda's Fundraising Page
A little about my running journey…
In 2019, I was barely able to run a mile. After watching the Boston Marathon in April of that year, I became inspired to sign up for and run my first half marathon. I completed that race in October 2019 and fell in love with all that comes with training and running. While I continued to enjoy my new-found love for running, the pandemic brought many challenges when it came to racing. My second half marathon was moved from an in-person to virtual event, and I completed it in May 2020. Towards the end of 2020, I had my sights set on my first full marathon. However, due to the continual impacts of COVID-19, those plans were put on hold. Now that in-person racing is back up and running (pun intended), I am ready to revisit my goal and work to cross the finish line in NYC in November of this year!
Release Recovery Foundation
As someone who works at a human services agency, I have been inspired to seek out organizations who serve individuals who are affected by similar challenges. Therefore, I have decided to run for the Release Recovery Foundation charity team. They are a NYC-based nonprofit that offers scholarships to people who need support bridging the gap between what they can afford and what they need to engage with substance abuse treatment programs. Funding that is provided to individuals goes towards Inpatient and Outpatient treatment centers, Interventionists, Therapy and Recovery Coaches. All the money raised by The Release Recovery Foundation goes directly to care for individuals in need.
Keep Going
Release Recovery encourages people to Keep Going, which is also my mantra as I train for this first race! Please support my fundraising efforts for the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon by clicking the donate button. No donation is too small.
