FINAL WEEK!
It's here, the final week of marathon training. All the work that I've done has led me to this. I'm not going to lie, it feels surreal. Logically I know I'll be running on Sunday - but it still hasn't totally hit me yet that I am 5 days away from marathon day. A huge thank you to all of you who have supported me throughout this journey. I can't wait to make you all proud!

Last Long Run Complete
I've officially run my longest training run and have completed my marathon practice day. As I transition into the end of my training cycle, I've learned so much about myself and how to train for a marathon. There's things I did really well, and things I wish I would have done differently. Regardless, this has been my own journey and I'm proud of myself for doing all that I've done to prepare. In these final weeks as I taper and prepare for November 6th, I wanted to give a huge shoutout to all of my family, friends, and supporters. Not only have people supported me financially by contributing to my fundraising efforts, but I've had the best cheerleaders around me to keep me positive and motivated as I move through the physical and mental trials during this time of preparation. Two weeks are left, and I am both nervous and excited. No matter what marathon day looks like, I know I'll be accomplishing something great - and much of that is backed by the people around me who have helped me get here.

Ragnar: Reach the Beach 2022
This Friday and Saturday morning I had the pleasure of running with some amazing people in the Ragnar: Reach the Beach event. We started in the heart of the White Mountains and ended in Hampton Beach, NH. As a team, we covered almost 200 miles over the course of ~36 hours. I truly felt privileged to be surrounded people who had the same passions as I do and bring their own unique perspectives to why they run. This race helped me overcome the recent mental hurdles I've had in my marathon training. It was my second Ragnar Race and I felt stronger than I did during Ragnar New England in May. Recently in my training cycle, I've been pretty hard on myself and have been comparing my journey to others. However, after this weekend I feel rejuvenated and strong. With just 7 weeks to go, this race was EXACTLY what I needed to re-up my mental game.

August slips away into a moment in time...
This month I have been channeling my inner Taylor Swift love as I've been listening to her Lover and Redemption albums on repeat during my long runs. I'm about half way through my training cycle and I am excited for my 14 mile run this upcoming weekend! Once completed, it will be my longest run I've EVER done. Looking forward to building upon that week over week as I count down the days until November 6th.

Summer Running
As I enter into week 4 of my training cycle, the summer heat is ON! For the first time in my life, I'm trying to become a morning runner. So far, I've had a great base run and some speed work this week. This Wednesday check-in comes to you from my rest day. While I'm looking forward to tomorrow's 40 minute base run, I really enjoyed taking a nice bike ride to work today as a little bit of cross training. This weekend's long run is a full 10k. I can't wait to get out there and re-baseline what my 10k time is!

Official Training Has Begun!
The time is finally here to officially begin my training cycle for the NYC Marathon! Up until this point, I've had fun working on my base training so I can be fully prepared to enter into the marathon training cycle. I've completed some fun events in my base training, including: - Ragnar New England in May - A virtual relay race with my Run with Aim Spring Team this week As I look forward to my formal training cycle, I'm looking to document all the fun things I learn along the way on my Instagram account: @amandaraeruns Feel free to follow along if you want to see my progress (and terribly made reels) there!

A MESSAGE FROM Amanda's Fundraising Page
A little about my running journey…
In 2019, I was barely able to run a mile. After watching the Boston Marathon in April of that year, I became inspired to sign up for and run my first half marathon. I completed that race in October 2019 and fell in love with all that comes with training and running. While I continued to enjoy my new-found love for running, the pandemic brought many challenges when it came to racing. My second half marathon was moved from an in-person to virtual event, and I completed it in May 2020. Towards the end of 2020, I had my sights set on my first full marathon. However, due to the continual impacts of COVID-19, those plans were put on hold. Now that in-person racing is back up and running (pun intended), I am ready to revisit my goal and work to cross the finish line in NYC in November of this year!

Release Recovery Foundation
As someone who works at a human services agency, I have been inspired to seek out organizations who serve individuals who are affected by similar challenges. Therefore, I have decided to run for the Release Recovery Foundation charity team. They are a NYC-based nonprofit that offers scholarships to people who need support bridging the gap between what they can afford and what they need to engage with substance abuse treatment programs. Funding that is provided to individuals goes towards Inpatient and Outpatient treatment centers, Interventionists, Therapy and Recovery Coaches. All the money raised by The Release Recovery Foundation goes directly to care for individuals in need.

Keep Going
Release Recovery encourages people to Keep Going, which is also my mantra as I train for this first race! Please support my fundraising efforts for the 2022 TCS New York City Marathon by clicking the donate button. No donation is too small.
