Like so many, cancer has become devastatingly familiar for my family and friends. Last year I lost one of the most important people in my life to complications from cancer, a loss that was unexpected and heart breaking for our family. My uncle can only be described as a breath of fresh air. His loyalty and love for those close to him was a testament to who he was as a person and not a day goes by that I don't think of how unapologetically genuine and special he was.
A while back, running became a huge part of my life to help my physical and mental health, and now more than ever, it helps me connect with my uncle even when he's gone. It's because of this, I've hopped on the bandwagon and will be running the 2024 TCS New York City Marathon to help raise money and awareness for a foundation incredibly close to my heart.
I am immensely grateful to be teaming up with the Expect Miracles Foundation who fund innovative, life-saving research at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, as well as provide grants and support to young adults who are struggling financially to recover from cancer. There's nothing I'd rather do more that run, walk, or crawl a marathon to support this foundation and everything they do for those fighting cancer.
