Hello!!

My name is Sister Bridget Parker and this will be my second year running the Chicago Marathon to fundraise for Mission of Our Lady of the Angels. We serve the west side of Chicago, primarily with a food pantry that serves about 4000 families a month with food and other material needs such as diapers, clothing, and cleaning supplies. We also host community events like block parties, lunches, and even 2 medical clinics this year! As a Catholic religious community, the love and care for the people we serve flows from and is sustained by the love of Jesus Christ, whose body and blood we receive each day at Mass. 

Since fall 2024, I’ve been in formation with the Franciscans of the Eucharist of Chicago here, which means I’m living the life in preparation/discernment of making vows here as a religious sister. Currently, I’m in my second (and last!) year of novitiate. If you wonder what a novice does everyday - at least for me, most days involve: time for personal prayer, studying, going to some classes, community prayer and mass, helping with the pantry needs, gardening in the summer, answering the phone and door, eating meals with the sisters and brothers here, doing normal people chores, having fun working with volunteers, and running (of course!!!).
