Please support my fundraising efforts for the 2025 Bank of America Chicago Marathon for Culinary Care: I am running in honor of my mother Carol Chaoui, who passed away from Metastatic Breast and Thyroid Cancer in 2020. I started running in college as a way to better understand my mother and connect with her and found joy, community, hope, and strength just as she had always done. I was lucky enough to run Boston with her in 2018 and New York in 2019. While my mother was sick on and off for 11 years with multiple cancer diagnoses and what felt like endless cycles of chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery she had a strong community of friends, family, and even acquaintances who stepped up to provide rides, meals, childcare, a listening ear, and general support. While I know this isn't a privilege everyone has, I know first hand how critical this type of care and support can be. I would be honored to contribute meals and moments of comfort to people undergoing chemotherapy. I miss my mother every single day and I know how much food was a source of both comfort and community for her whether it was sharing a cookie with a friend who had come to her chemo session, or being able to sit down to a hot meal at dinner with her family around her.
