A MESSAGE FROM Samantha Camden
Welcome to my fundraising page for the TCS 2023 NYC Marathon! I am so excited to be running the marathon on November 5th in support of the New York Junior League, an organization I've volunteered with since moving to New York City last year!
The New York Junior League is an organization of women whose mission is to advance women's leadership for meaningful community impact through volunteer action, collaboration, and training. Its purpose is exclusively educational and charitable. The NYJL has cultivated long-term partnerships with a broad range of community organizations that share its passion for improving the New York City community, such as the American Cancer Society, Bowery Mission, City Meals on Wheels, Minds Matter, NYC Autism Charter Schools, Ronald McDonald House of New York, and Women in Need (Win).
Personally, I have volunteered with Good Shepherd Services. We provide weekly workshops and mentoring to help at-risk youth from 18 to 21 years of age transition from foster care to independent living. Our mentoring groups help expose teenagers in foster care to practical skills such as interview skills, banking & personal finance, stress management, and self-defense.
Our group of dedicated volunteers from Team NYJL has a collective fundraising goal of $60,000, and every dollar raised will support the organization's mission of improving the lives of women and children in our community. I'm so proud to be running alongside such talented women in support of this great cause!
