A MESSAGE FROM Rich Rosenfeld's Brooklyn Free Clinic Fundraising Campaign
Please support my fundraising efforts for Brooklyn Free Clinic, run by SUNY Downstate students who provide free healthcare to the needy and uninsured. Guided by volunteer physicians and faculty advisors, the students offer screening, medical care, and access to a network of volunteer specialists. Your contribution will make prescription drugs available to underserved populations in central Brooklyn and will help reduce healthcare disparities.
On a personal note, I have been at SUNY Downstate nearly 30 years, where I serve as Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat) Department. I have a lifelong commitment to medical education, as Program Director for Residency Training, Faculty Advisor to several student groups, author of more than 350 publications, and a presenter of over 1,000 lectures in 22 countries.
Last, and perhaps most relevant to this cause, is my profound interest in healthy longevity, resulting in certification by the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine. I eat a whole food, plant-based diet and exercise regularly, with a weekly routine of weight lifting, cycling, power walking, and running 50+ miles. At age 56 I started running, progressing to my first marathon at age 60, with 2 virtual marathons thereafter. My personal record is 3 hours and 50 minutes, which I hope to beat this November at 63 years of age.
