A MESSAGE FROM Justin’s Fundraising Page
As you may know, I completed the NYC Marathon in 2019. While it was one of the best experiences of my life, I wasn’t sure if I ever would do it again. Over 26 grueling miles in one of the best cities in then world definitely took a toll on my physical and mental health. Hundreds of hours and miles of training… but in the end it was all worth it. Recently my daughter Hailey signed up for the 2023 NYC Marathon and motivated me to do it with her (clearly I’m not looking to beat a 24 year old’s time). I was somewhat hesitant because my life is busier now... I run several businesses and also a full time student in PA school.

I swore to myself that if I was going to take up this challenge it would be for a cause that is super important.  After researching, I came across a wonderfull organization called the Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation (GDMF).  GLEN DOHERTY, a former Navy SEAL and security operator, was one of four Americans killed in the Benghazi, Libya terrorist attack on the US Diplomatic Compound and CIA Annex on September 11, 2012.  Glen flew from Tripoli to Benghazi to support the team under attack. This was Glen’s last tour overseas as a security operator for the CIA’s Global Response Staff.  He had a new job lined up, but asked to serve one more trip abroad.  Glen was hit by a mortar round during the attacks and made the ultimate sacrifice.  One of Glen’s sayings was, “Don’t stop, never stop. No regrets, ever.”  That’s how Glen lived.  Glen loved serving our country.

The Glen Doherty Memorial Foundation supports special operations professionals by providing the means necessary to transition to and succeed in civilian life. GDMF is dedicated to honoring and preserving the memory of Glen and all of those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice defending our nation. What a wonderful way to thank those who make great sacrifices for us.

My goal is to raise $10,000 by race day and our team goal is to raise $30,000Your contributions will makesignificant impacts on the lives of our service members and their families. If you have a family member, friend or colleague who may be interested in supporting GDMF, please forward my email.  Many companies will match employees’ contributions and we will easily assist in that process.

I am proud to be able to attach my name to this effort, you see a young man named Michael P. Murphy, often referred to as Lieutenant Michael P. Murphy, was a United States Navy SEAL officer who gained fame for his heroic actions during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan. He was also my friends nephew, my friend was Denis Reddy and was a veteran of Vietnam serving as a United States Marine, we spent many miles on the road crisscrossing the country via motorcycle. God bless you for what you are doing, if Dennis were here today, he would have saluted you. Peter and Alura Montana
